Our Story
We are a small family business, started in 2014 by Chuck. He loved golf and played his whole life. In 2009 he became very ill, and in 2014 he wanted to start a business to keep himself in the game. He was playing one day with Paul Tesori, Webb Simpson's tour caddie. Chuck saw Paul's yardage book cover was in bad shape and asked if he could try to make a new one for him. He took Paul's cover, pulled it apart, and started to design what we do today.
In 2015, Chuck passed away from cancer. At that time, my sister and I decided to keep Fairway Leathers going in Chuck's memory. We still believe in the same principles Chuck did — produce a high-quality custom product and do whatever it takes to satisfy the client.
We are a small family company. I handle the designs and sales. My sister Barb handled production — she cut every piece of leather to order and did all our embroidery. Once embroidery was complete, she took our work to the same seamstress Chuck started with — an Amish lady in Apple Creek, OH. All stitching is done on compressed air sewing machines. She has no electricity in her shop.
In June of 2024, my sister Barb passed away. Melissa (my wife) and I decided we were not going to fold Fairway Leathers. The business means too much to us.
In October 2024, I brought all our equipment from Ohio down to NC. Today, we cut the leather and do the embroidery in our shop. Once embroidery is done, I ship the pieces to our Amish seamstress in Ohio. We want to be consistent with our quality.
Personal custom items are always a big hit with our clients. Unfortunately, so many companies require a minimum order. Fairway Leathers does not. We can produce 1 item or any number you need.
Since 2015 we have produced over 10,000 items. We are used by over 300 colleges and high schools around the country, and by individuals on several tours. On the PGA Tour we are used by Marc Leishman and JJ Spaun. We have also made covers for Ernie Els and Justin Rose, among others. Of course, Paul Tesori carries our product at every event. We are in the shops of Sage Valley Golf Club, Old Chatham Golf Club, Oregon Golf Club, Sedgefield Country Club, and several others.
We are proud to say we are truly a custom handmade product, done 100% of the time in the USA. Our company is about as grassroots as you can get.
